Hemel Hempstead - People Building

Peoplebuilding Hemel is a 500,000 sq ft / 45 acre business park at Hemel Hempstead and is comparable to Chiswick Park.

The landscape masterplan ensured the integration of new buildings within a new woodland landscape. The landscape is tight to the built form with no visible change between the open grass areas and building margin.

Each building shares a strict north-south orientation on either side of a boulevard which runs the full length of the site. The landscape here is formal, with boxed shrub planting and trees defining priority to pedestrians. Formal groups of managed canopy trees reinforce the rectilinear concept.

The formality of the boulevard landscape gives way to a loose tree planting approach, clothing the development in a green foil of natural tree canopies.
