IGA 2003 Exhibition in Rostock, Germany

CFA’s design represents a journey through time; incorporating a bedouin hut of traditional construction, made entirely from materials of the date palm, to the modern 15m tall glass pyramid structure, containing plants. The shape of this structure represents the sail of the traditional sailing craft of the region, ‘the Dhow’. The 1500m² garden represents the advances in horticulture since the Sheikh came into power in the 1960’s.

The garden was designed to promote peace for all cultures.

It has a central theme of a long reflective water body surrounded by palms and indigenous plants native to the hot desert sun.
At the head, and proud of the water body, is a single piece of white Carrara marble inlaid with black granite bearing a 22-carat gold leaf transcription.
Portland slabs of stone create a step down into the still water.
Four hand-wire-worked arbours enables the observer to seat in quiet contemplation.
